Enable, Develop & Build Legacy
As a Director of Expressive Arts (secondary school, further & higher education), I successfully built partnerships and departments across various art forms & disciplines to enable young people and emerging artists of all backgrounds to develop their creative talent and establish careers in the arts sector.
Helping others to ‘tell their own story’, nurture and grow is my passion when supporting, designing, and developing formal and informal learning spaces, departments, productions, and immersive experiences. With over 19 years’ experience in the education, charity and commercial sector designing & delivering programmes, curriculum, outreach projects, blended learning training programmes, learning content strategy, learning experiences, project leadership courses and development programmes for artists and producers – my approach is built on a culture of trust, inclusion, and transparency. And it starts with listening and engaging with arts leaders, key stakeholders, subject matter experts and target audiences to understand and define objectives and key results.
I am an experienced dance artist & teacher, design engaging curriculums for KS3/4 &5 Dance: AQA GCSE & A Level Dance. I am an AQA dance examiner and an Artspool assessor. I have led departments as a Head of Dance, Director of Community Engagement, Creative Producer in Participation & Events, and Learning Centre Lead in Expressive Arts.
Much of my experience has focused on championing underrepresented groups of all ages, to provide better learning experiences & opportunities often spotlighting & platforming not just the voices that want to be heard but that need to be heard, celebrating their rich experience to role model and help change practices and approaches for the better.
From Decolonising the curriculum on One Dance UK’s roundtable, developing job opportunities, skills, and community engagement with construction project Oxford North with Storey Consulting and leading participation on a largescale coproduction ‘East Wall’ with funders & partners LIFT Festival, Royal Historic Palace and Hofesh Schechter Dance Company – these are all examples of projects that lead & supported by focus on empowering, enabling and engaging people to connect through an understanding of the human experience and unravel the wisdom, resilience, creativity and brilliance that exists when a space, autonomy and responsibility is given. Below are a few examples of resources, programmes, and productions.
